About Us
Richard Losch, Inc., an Oregon Corporation since
1991, develops and manufactures fiberoptic products,
with a focus on single-fiber multimode power
transmission. Markets include industrial, scientific,
military and medical, with worldwide sales.
High power fiberoptic connector products developed
and manufactured by Losch are used exclusively in OEM
applications to the advantage of the customer.
Connectors include an array of SMA905-compatable
connector designs in copper, stainless steel and
ceramic, including the CuSMA™, SMA500™, SMA500MS™, the
LD-80™ 4 x 10mm connector, LD-80R™ family of connectors
and cables, and customer-specific designs.
Focusing on the high power fiberoptic cable market,
Losch is experiencing steady growth in fiberoptic cables
manufactured for diode and fiber lasers. Cable core
sizes typically range from 100 to 1000 microns. Diode
laser users in the industrial area are transmitting over
400W of power thru CuSMA™ cables, with higher powers
expected as the more powerful lasers become available.
Fiberoptic cables and pigtails using mode-stripping
SMA500MS™ connectors are experiencing increasing sales
in fiber laser and photonic crystal fiber applications.
They are also available as keyed, anti-rotating
connectors with angle polishes to 10 degrees.
Larger multi-kilowatt laser systems employ Losch
LD-80R™ cables based upon a universal design, primarily
in automotive manufacturing processes. The universal
cables are adaptable to Lumonics, Trumpf-Haas, and other
laser systems.
Fiberoptic cable repair and re-manufacturing of CuSMA™
and LD-80™ cables has allowed customers to reduce spare
cable inventories and down-time on laser systems.
Customers have experienced 2X+ usage as compared to OEM
fiberoptic cables by using Losch re-manufactured cables.
Multi-kilowatt laser systems have always employed
safety circuits, shutting the laser down in event of
fiber failure. Losch incorporates redundant safety
features in remanufactured cables, as well as new
LD-80R™ and LD-80™ cables. Losch introduced a
full-length breakage detection in CuSMA™ and LD-80™
cables in October 2004, and with increasing safety
regulations, anticipates strong demand.
Supporting cable manufacturing and repair, Losch also
manufactures and sells a unique fiberoptic polishing
machine and supplies for single fiber, bundle and large
OEM cable polishing.
Losch sells standard SMA905 connectors
precision-manufactured in all-stainless steel. Fiber
hole sizes are customer-specified and available from in
any size from 120 microns to over 2mm in +/- 2 micron
diameter tolerance and centration less than 5 microns.
Options include Buna-n and fluoropolymer O-rings, hex
nuts, safety wire holes, and oversize knurled nuts.
Accessories include both male and female caps in
stainless steel and low-ESD polymer, sealing receiver
caps with O-rings and safety wire holes, and precision
receivers in both stainless steel and copper alloy.
Anti-rotating (keyed) SMA connectors and receivers are
also available. |
